  • ALWAYS use the hand gel before entering and on leaving the patient’s room; and, when requested, please wash your hands with liquid soap.
  • Anyone with a fever or who has a cold, sore throat or any other infectious illness must not visit.
  • If you have recently had a cold, sore throat or any other infectious illness you should not visit until you have been completely symptom free for at least 48 hours. It is always recommended that you wear a mask.
  • If you have any respiratory symptoms and you need to visit the patient, please wear mask before entering the room.
  • Follow all Posted Precaution Signs and report to the Nursing Station before entering the patient room.
  • Maintain cough etiquette by coughing on your upper sleeves or cover your mouth with a tissue whenever you cough or sneeze.
  • Encourage to get flu vaccine every year to protect yourself and others from influenza viruses.

Use of electrical equipment

To comply with electrical and safety standards, the use of personal electrical items in the hospital is not allowed; the only exception is the use of a mobile phone charger. If you cannot bring battery powered alternatives and feel you require a certain electrical appliance, such as a razor, hairdryer or radio, please ensure the item is inspected and approved by our Engineering Department. You can request this inspection through your assigned nurse or the ward clerk.

Nurse call system

A nursing call system is provided at each bed. There is also a pull cord hanging near the lavatory to notify your nurse if you need help or assistance while in the bathroom.

Fire safety

Staff and patients have an ethical and moral responsibility to make sure the environment is free from fire hazards and to know what to do in case of fire. For this reason, we do carry out fire safety drills from time to time. If you hear or see a fire alarm, please pay attention.

Do not panic. Please leave all personal belongings and listen to instructions from staff regarding safe evacuation. Do not use the elevators. On arrival in your room at Heart Hospital, find out where your nearest entrance and exits are.
